Nabila is an Egyptian actress and is among the best recognized cinema figures as she was dubbed âEgyptâs first starâ. She was born to a wealthy family and her talents were noticed by the Egyptian director âAtef Salim in the film âMafeesh Tafahomâ (âNo Understandingâ) on which she did not utter a single word. Thereafter she assumed the lead on the film âRabiâah al-âAddawiyahâ. Nabila was married to her discoverer âAtef Salim for a few years. She worked in Lebanese cinema and on stage. On television she assumed the lead on works such as âBardeesâ, âSahibat al-Galalaâ and âal-âAmma Nourâ (âAunt Noorâ) in 2003. On radio Nabila worked on âal-Sabr fee al-Malahatâ. The actress also produced some of her own movies such as âWa Saqatt fee Bahr al-âAssalâ (âI Fell into a Sea of Honeyâ), she also worked on stage with Tahhiya Karyoka on âRobabikaâ and received the award for best actress for her role in the film âLa Yazal al-Tahqiq Mustamirranâ (âThe Investigation is still Ongoingâ) in 1979. Nabila also received the award for other films such as âIntihar Sahib al-Shaqaâ (âThe Suicide of the Flatâs Ownerâ), âal-âAzraa wa al-Shaâr al-Abyadâ (âThe Virgin and the White Hairâ) and âKhatib Mamaâ (âMotherâs FiancĂŠâ). Nabila was chosen as a member of the judgeâs committee in the 2003 Cairo International Film Festival. She is considered among the Egyptian stars who are most intelligent and capable of survival and she dubbed herself âEgyptâs first starâ. Nabila established herself following âRabiâah al-âAddawiyahâ however the crucial part of her life began when she started producing. She was in her best form with Ashraf Fahmy and in works adapted from Ehsan âAbd Al Qudoos. Also among her most important roles was âKashf al-Mastoorâ (âRevealing that which is Hiddenâ) and âToot Tootâ.
